Many, many years ago, we hosted a Secret Santa to resounding success. Now, it's time to bring it back for 2016! :eager:

If you've had experience with Secret Santas in the past, you'll know that it's a fun event where participants' names are collected and then randomly given out to other players. Once a player receives a name, they create a gift for the person whose name they received. This person receives your gift, but you receive a gift as well! The main thing with Secret Santa is to have fun as you give a gift and receive a gift in return.

Guidelines

  • Each player will receive the name of a person and three clues as to what the person would like.
  • You must not disclose the name of the person you are giving the gift to to anyone at any time.
  • ALL forms of art are accepted. However, the art must be your own, original work.
  • We will not accept art that contains Copyrighted material, collaborations or mature content.
  • Once your art gift has been created, please submit it to your DeviantArt gallery and send ProjectComment a note (the gift is then passed on to the recipient).

Once you receive the name of the person you are to give art to, you cannot pull out. Therefore, consider carefully if you will have enough time to do this.

Only 3 Weeks!

You have only 3 weeks to complete your gift. The deadline for all gifts is Wednesday, December 21st at Midnight, Pacific Time.

Send a note to ProjectComment with the following details:

Subject Line: Secret Santa
I am best at creating [insert forms of art e.g. digital art, traditional art, literature, etc.] and would like to receive [insert forms of art e.g. I don't mind, digital art, traditional art, etc.].

Three clues as to what I would like:
1. [e.g. favourite colour(s)]
2. [e.g. favourite concept or subject matter]
3. [e.g. favourite scenario]

I [would/would not] be available to give another gift and I [do/do not] mind if I receive one in return.

Art? Comments?

As ProjectComment is a comment group, we will not be limiting Secret Santa to just artwork! To take part in giving and receiving comments, send a note to ProjectComment with the following details:

Subject Line: Secret Santa Comments

1. I would like to comment on [insert forms of art e.g. digital art, traditional art, literature, etc.].

2. I would like to give [x number of] comment(s).

3. In my comments, I would like to give and receive a [50 word, 100 word, 150 word, 200 word, 300 word, etc.] comment.

3. I would like to receive (the equal number of given) comment(s) on the following piece(s):

4. I would like to know [insert questions, concerns, what you would like the commenter to focus on, etc.]

Simple, right?

We are only allowing 1 week for you to sign up to either/both Secret Santa (art) and Secret Santa (comments), so make sure to sign up quickly and do it right! The deadline for signing up is
Wednesday, 30th November

Timeline

Names Distributed: 1st-4th December
Art Creation/Commenting Period: 1st-21st December
Deadline for Art Creation/Commenting: 21st December, Midnight Pacific

Tips

To create the perfect gift, consider these tips:

  • Put time and effort into your art/comment (because you wouldn't be too happy if you received something scrappy).
  • Have a look at the person's page and gallery as "further research" for your art/comment.
  • For comments, consider explaining and expanding on your points, answer the why and how, and check out this awesome guide. If you would like to send your comment to someone for review, reach out to a comment coach.

We hope you have some awesome fun during this festive time. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
