Deviation Actions
ProjectComment presents the community of deviantART a project that will question what it really means to be a commenter, an artist, a member of deviantART. All of these challenges relate to commenting in some shape or form, and we sincerely encourage everyone to take part!
You do not have to be brilliant at writing comments and we are not asking you to perform miraculous feats. We are just looking for people willing to make a difference. It is all too easy to receive constructive comments, but giving them is equally, if not more, rewarding.
Each week, a challenge is set with the deviations of those who participated in the previous week featured in a news article. Many thanks to CameronKobe, Kaotic-Cass, RetSamys and Malintra-Shadowmoon for participating in Week 42!

Guidelines
Once you have commented, link us to your comment in a reply to this article!
The comment must be newly submitted to deviantART from today's date.
Please try to include something along the lines of: "Commented on behalf of ProjectComment's 52 Week Comment Challenge" in your comment!
Feel free to follow our guide on How to Comment - Pointers and Examples. If you are struggling with the concept of a constructive comment, this should help!
You may do this challenge as many times as you want!
Those who complete the challenge successfully will be featured in a news article, and the one who completes the most challenges successfully will win themselves a 12 Month Premium Membership. There will also be given to the best efforts!
Have Fun!

Magic Week - Reverse Caption
The power flowed into him, filling his lungs, spreading out in his blood like oxygen, and settling into the marrow of his bones. He felt himself smile in a way that he hadn't since he was a boy learning to cast his first spell. He had devoted decades to the study of magic, but now, now he was magic. A glow lit the trees around him. He couldn't be sure if it was the setting sun, or if the glow came from his own skin. A beetle crawled on the ground nearby, seemingly unconcerned with what it had just witnessed, but yet its movements were in time with his heartbeat. A bird in the sky flapped its wings to the same rhythm. A breeze plucked at his hair and clothes. He began to dance, slowly at first; he followed the wind, and the wind followed him. He moved faster, twirling and leaping, until even the fallen leaves were dancing around him. When he stopped, all was still. He smiled again, and raised his arms to the sky. The first stars were visible. He watched them for a long

I have been watching you on deviantArt for quite some time now and I appreciate almost all of your works, yet I have not Fav'ed a lot of you. I should. and by now, I have Fav'ed a lot of your work, but I didn't make as many comments as I should have.
My folder with book art in it could not possibly be complete without this one. The books are really well done (with some really great details) and it's just astonishing how you have arranged them on the right: There's a house, there are interesting patterns below the paw and that blue book fascinates me, I want to know what's on it and in it! Oh, and stairs on the left seem to lead somewhere, really nice touch.
And then, of course, there's the dragon. I love dragons. And what a magnificent dragon this is! I like how it is as much part of the books as it is part of the forest: transforming into trees and covered and surrounded by books.
Another nice touch to underline this impression is that you added eyes on the trees and textures, hinting at more mysterious transformations - maybe of another dragon?
It's a bit sad that it's only an A5 painting because the smaller details become less clear. And the yellow parts... for me personally, they look hideous, with a touch of green. I guess that's a downside to the technique used. Ah, but I wouldn't dare to ask for this as one of your wonderful digital edits. Hm... there are some irregularities in the yellow parts and in the violet parts and in the sky, while the dragon is so smoothly done - of course you're placing the focus on it, with the warm reddish colours.
I love your style. All those patterns and these glowing colours! Thank you for being awesome.

Hi.
I got here by using the random deviation link over and over again until I found something interesting. And I thought, hey, this would be a good one for Project-Comment's 52 Week Comment Challenge (Week 02).
Now, I realise that this is an older deviation and what I put in my comment is probably already obvious to you. It's a risk I'm willing to take.
As far as the animation goes, it's amazing! Very smooth - considering how many steps the movements have, it could be smoother, but that would be way too much work. I mean, dang, it almost looks like you used 3D templates or retraced an existing animation - which I'm not going to assume here. The way the hair moves, the hands(!), the rotation of the character - how did you do that!?
If I may, I have some suggestions as to how to improve this. It would look a lot better if you either added more frames or if you increased the frame rate. Right now it looks very rough due to the long time a single frame is displayed. More frames per second/shorter delays between two frames would make this look less rough. (In this case, I think, simply decreasing it from the current 200ms pause to a 100ms pause would be good.)
Also, I'm not sure what program you used to draw the black lines, but you might want to consider looking into paths (also: here and here). This tool is available in all advanced image editing programs and lets you draw really smooth lines as opposed to your aliased lines.
Another thing you should consider is that with 111 layers and so many colours, it takes a certain time to load. Right now, it's about 16MB big. With a lossless optimising algorithm, such as the one the GIMP offers, I was able to decrease its size to 15MB, which is quite an improvement
As for adding sound, you might already know that the GIF does not support audio... however, Flash does. In case you are looking for free ways to do that, you can check out my tutorial about it. Another advantage of Flash is that the gradients that are somewhat lossy here are displayed correctly.
