ProjectComment is a Group that provides Guaranteed & Constructive comments for the deviantART community.

In order to support those efforts, we encourage dedicated users to give comments too. For those who are critics, artists, or just helpful in the community, we now offer something in return for all that you do - be it helping the participants of ProjectComment, or the group itself!

This weekly article focuses on the amazing deviants in the deviantART community, who have given fantastic comments, through excerpts of those comments, artwork by the deviants themselves, and much more! Your support in :+fav: the article would be much appreciated.

Spotlight Commenters

These commenters are determined by you through Nominations (read below for more information). Each month, we will be selecting a couple of amazing commenters based on the comments we have seen in our gallery submissions and elsewhere on deviantART. Anyone on deviantART is applicable for this feature!

"I actually quite enjoyed the story. The beginning was simply wonderful, as was the last sentence. I also enjoyed how although the subject was rather dark, the story itself felt distanced and almost lighthearted.

The characters are natural and quite believable, more so because we are given a little distance from them. The only things that detracts from their believability are occasional hiccups in the dialogue. Generally, the dialogue seems natural, but sometimes the beats feel unbalanced. Technical errors and lots of filler words (like "umm" and "oh) were somewhat distracting. Perhaps try to cut down on them a little.

beautiful, or something1.
i'll never be in magazines
fashion photos, beauty portraits but
i tell myself that beauty is in
the eye of the beholder and i try
to be satisfied. sometimes
i really am happy, sometimes
i really do feel beautiful
but “sometimes” is such a fickle friend—i guess maybe
not one at all
beauty is in
the eye of the beholder
so i try to help others
make them see that i am valuable, that
i do matter. and if enough people believe it then
i'll be convinced too. but when
they walk over my back they
don't notice at all my face in the puddle
keeping their shoes clean from the mud
—sometimes the dirt
still clogs up my lungs
when will I just
stop breathing?
beauty is in
the eye of the beholder
so i do what i've always hated:
start to read fashion magazines
surf the web for beauty tips
and realize that prettiness
comes from makeup, from clothing
and when i'm not hating the models' beauty
i'm stripping my own skin of meaning
so it can be just as clear as theirs
—just as
Truth, Love     The reversed bowl of his hair inspired confusion in even the most stoic of onlookers. The mop of brown gave way over the boundary of his forehead to softly lashed eyes which were a startling blue in the streaming afternoon sunlight. There was a slight stoop in his neck which suggested many days spent gazing down at a desk, while his unmarred skin was like cream in its purity. Taken altogether, he was neither entirely ugly nor completely handsome, but rested somewhere in the ambiguous region of forgetability. Really, he could have been taken one way or the other. It was this quality of his, perhaps, that made it so easy for her view of him to transform in such a short span of time.
She had been looking forward all day to proving herself to the boys. Perhaps Justin, the hilarious, teasing one, or Mick, charming and almost too nice. Today would finally be the day when she’d be someone. When she approached the meeting place, she

of starlight
shattered suddenly
by stark reality
(broken pieces
twinkling
to be strung together
once more)

"It's obvious from looking at this artwork that you spend a lot of time working on this! I love the creature you designed and how it moves, it's a well-balanced and anatomically plausible design. I also like how you spend time creating a background and are obviously setting a scene with a particular mood- good job on that.

However, I think in terms of execution there are a few things you could work on. Your composition seems a bit random, with the placement of the glowing crystals and the figure itself. Try to plan your drawing (thumbnail sketches are ideal for this!) and create a composition that guides the eye towards the focal point of the image.

"Colors are the matter of personal taste of course, but there is one thing you might use in your next artworks: don't use the same saturation. If all colors are the same value and saturation it's easy to lost the balance and especially when you have them contrasting on one another. If the character is so bright colored it's still not an excuse for leaving it so saturated, you can try adding middle-tones and some pastel-colored brushstrokes to make the picture more balanced, look at different birds - they are bright colored but still they don't make your eyes water. Here, watch this video to understand what I'm talking about www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kQllL…; [...]"
