Project Comment: A Poem, by Brandon ThomasonPROJECT: COMMIT TO COMET COMMENT!
By Brandon Nikolas Thomason
Comments, they're not what they used to be;
They've lost their real meaning, and they're no longer free.
A person has to give a comment, to get another back.
A person has to think a lot, for the education they lack.
When people feel like they're cheery and good, it's only at this time:
They comment to a deviation, one that's in it's prime.
The people on top of the deviant chain get the most rewards.
They barely give a little back; their fortune they go towards!
Why do the little ones suffer, they had so much pride!
They quit before they get ahead; the pressure turns the tide.
It's thus that comments are rare and valuable, they come at a large, large premium.
For time and money is of the essence... they certainty aren't a freemium
So do yourself a favor and show a dev' in need.
Comment on their deviation, give them your news feed.
This will make the deviant happy, and filled with tears of joy.
A comment is precious and

Projects and Active & Constructive Commenters

:note: Targeted Commenting
Check out Targeted Commenting, the sole purpose of which is to accommodate you when commenting on the deviations that you would like guaranteed and constructive comments on. While our other projects do not seem to meet that requirement, this one hopefully does as we strive to make our comments that much more driven and focused for you. Targeted Commenting aims to help you receive and give comments focused on certain aspects of artwork like composition, concept, technical handling of tools and more, so go check it out! :eager:

Congratulations to TheUnsquishedGoomba for being the most active and constructive commenter in the past month! A selection of TheUnsquishedGoomba's great works are featured below! :la:

Destroying To Save“Earth really is a beautiful planet, isn’t it?” Commander Jacrez said, as he gazed at the blue/green globe through a bridge window, its inhabitants unaware of the cataclysmic events that were about to unfold.
“Mph,” Captain Lemez grunted. He was busy studying console readouts. “It still will be once we’ve finished.” He looked up. “But that’s not what you’re worried about, is it? Isn’t three hundred million enough for you?”
Jacrez whirled around at this, eyes wide. Had he heard right? “Three hundred million? I thought the plan…”
“…Was to save only three million,” Lemez finished. “Originally, yes. Since you’re a relative newcomer to the project, I felt it better to keep you in the dark until I was sure I could trust you.” He gave a brief smile. “Now you’ve made your feelings clear…”
The commander brushed that aside. “Neve
I Hate SupermarketsI never liked going to the supermarket.
Too much variety. I never knew what to choose. I picked up a brightly coloured box of cereal that declared it was new.
“Spaced Out Sugar Flaky Puffs?” A weird name for a weird-looking cereal. It looked like a cross between a cornflake and a puff of rice. It also boasted a mystery free gift. Couldn’t be too fancy, but what the heck?
I bought a box.
I got back to my shoebox that had the cheek to consider itself a flat. Some people ate cereal at other times of day other than the morning, but I usually wasn’t one of them.
Usually.
This time I decided to be different.
Opening the box, I pulled out the bag to check where this free gift was supposed to be. I found that it wasn’t in the bag itself, but the bottom of the box.
It was a moon-shaped pendant, of all things. It looked metallic, but I fully expected it to be made of plastic.
I was wrong.
Something made me rub it between my thumb and forefinger.
Big mistake.
I was i
The Forest of FollyThe gods of Coverion were a fairly easy-going bunch. There was only one thing they couldn’t abide – mortals that claimed that they were as powerful as them. No mortal could ever be that powerful. It simply wasn’t possible.  The human body was incapable of channelling the sheer amount of magic energy required.
Channelling magic made the body heat up. Channel too much too quickly and you spontaneously combust. It made for an impressive sight, but it meant that rather being remembered as a great wizard, you were mocked for being a complete idiot.
Making a mortal spontaneously combust was the ideal punishment for the gods to mete out. In fact, it was the only form of punishment they used. They weren’t very creative about that sort of thing.
There was one marked difference between the two, though; being punished by a god meant that a tree grew from your ashes. And not just any old tree. This tree would permanently be in bloom regardless of season. No blossom wou

January - What to Expect?

:star: We will be collaborating with GiveALlamaGetALlama and dAhub for a giveaway and/or contest. Lots of great prizes to be won, so keep a look out!

:star: Our first comment workshop on guidance will be posted this month, followed by a workshop on balance! These workshop-type editorials on commenting should help you with your own commenting, whether you are an artist or a commenter.

:star: We will be posting a new interview/feature series of one special commenter every week, so watch this space for that.

:star: Interested in being featured in a news article? Share your art thumbnails here, any art, all art! :la:

:star: We managed to hit 6,000 watchers at the end of November, and we will be hitting 7,000 members by the end of this month! As a group, we would like to celebrate this milestone, so if you have ideas, suggest them to us! Would you want free submissions for a week? A giveaway? Something else? Let us know!

A Tip and Final Word!

:lightbulb: Do you read the deviant's artist description before commenting? If not, give it a shot and see if they have suggestions for the kind of feedback they want! If you usually do, challenge yourself by commenting "blind" and not reading it at all! ~ astarayel

We would like to thank everyone who has given a constructive comment in the past month. It takes time, effort and more, but every constructive comment you make helps a member of DeviantArt, a fellow artist who may or may not be in a similar position to you. We hope that the artist will pass on the kindness and give a constructive comment to another member. Without your comment, we may not be able to hope at all.

If you have any questions, suggestions, thoughts, opinions, etc. about anything related to ProjectComment, contact us and let us know! Send us a note and we will respond!
