Deviation Actions
ProjectComment is a Group of many projects centred around comments, but, more importantly, constructive comments. We offer Members of deviantART a lot of opportunities to get comments, give comments, participate in comment projects, win points, get featured and much, much more!
Every two weeks, we will be interviewing commenters and volunteers at ProjectComment, specifically revolving around their life on deviantART and, the purpose of ProjectComment, constructive comments.
We sincerely hope you enjoy reading the sixtieth interview of this series with Astrikos!
Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello, I'm Ali and I am terrible at writing about myself.
Besides art, I really love music and nature. My main mediums are photography, literature, and traditional art. Though I love dabbling in other mediums.
I really love dA and its fantastic community.
Why are you on deviantART?
I want to spread the community love. I also want to help other artists.
Why do you regularly give constructive comments?
I feel like commenting long, thought out comments is important to everyone's deviantART experience. It's really a great thing. It helps other artists, and shows that you care. c:
What about giving constructive comments do you most like?
I like the interaction and the conversations that stem off of the comments. I also like when someone tells me how much it helped.
How do you stay motivated when it comes to commenting?
It's fun, really. It also helps that I'm an admin of this group.
Do you use a specific technique when commenting?
I try and make it friendly, but useful as well. I like to balance out gentle critique with what they did very well. I also make sure everything makes sense and that I am explaining myself enough. Sometimes I even link in some useful tutorials.
What is the difference between a constructive comment and a critique for you?
They're basically the same thing. However, a dA critique requires a subscription to request. It also has a nice star system. But you can easily use icons that represent that system. Critiques usually require a longer response of over 100 words. But constructive comments don't need to be that long, even though it is nice to hit that count.
Have you had any particularly good and/or bad experiences with commenting and how did that turn out?
Not everyone agrees with me, but most of the time, it has been really positive and awesome. All the luff.
What kind of feedback do you prefer?
I enjoy comments and critiques. It's really fun to talk with people. Faves/watches seem more like numbers. Important, I suppose, but not as great.
Do you struggle with giving comments sometimes?
Sometimes I'm not sure how to phrase certain parts of my critique, and not always so sure what I'm looking for. In literature deviations, I sometimes can't keep a focus.
What is your biggest pet peeve about commenting on deviantART?
Even though really short comments are sometimes all that deviants can get, single word ones like nice are somewhat annoying. Troll comments are annoying too, but haven't seen much of those lately.
Are you doing any projects at the moment, offline or online?
I have a praising life project specifically designed for day lifting comments.
It's doing well so far.
What advice would you give to commenters?
Have fun, put in a bit of effort, and keep it kind but useful. Quality over quantity. Connecting with the artist at a personal level can help foster some really nice friendships as well.
Finally, is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you so much for having me. Stay devious
Thank you Astrikos!
Thank you for reading.

Magic Week - Reverse Caption
The power flowed into him, filling his lungs, spreading out in his blood like oxygen, and settling into the marrow of his bones. He felt himself smile in a way that he hadn't since he was a boy learning to cast his first spell. He had devoted decades to the study of magic, but now, now he was magic. A glow lit the trees around him. He couldn't be sure if it was the setting sun, or if the glow came from his own skin. A beetle crawled on the ground nearby, seemingly unconcerned with what it had just witnessed, but yet its movements were in time with his heartbeat. A bird in the sky flapped its wings to the same rhythm. A breeze plucked at his hair and clothes. He began to dance, slowly at first; he followed the wind, and the wind followed him. He moved faster, twirling and leaping, until even the fallen leaves were dancing around him. When he stopped, all was still. He smiled again, and raised his arms to the sky. The first stars were visible. He watched them for a long
