Deviant Discovery
WHAT IS DEVIANT DISCOVERY?
Deviant Discovery is a weekly Journal Feature that focuses specifically on Deviants that have good art, but haven't gotten much attention for it. Every week, a new Deviant will be chosen, and a few of their artworks will be show in this Journal, along with a description of the artist themselves. This weekly feature will serve as an attempt to get under-appreciated artists more attention then they already have.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It will work in a similar way to Daily Deviations - either I could select a Deviant myself, or someone could be suggested by another Deviant. Once a Deviant is chosen, we'll find their best five Deviations to be featured in the Journal. Then, we'll give a short description of the artist's work, and a small explanation of why they were chosen. The feature will remain on the front of my page for seven days [168 hours; one week], so that the Deviant can get continuous attention. Suggestions could be s

People seem to crush hopes and dreams as if they were made of nothing. They are fragile in this way, and even though they may not be touched tangibly, people still have the power to ruin them, and to destroy them.
I know that if I ask for your hopes and dreams, I'll receive a good many, but I'm more intrigued at how many of you have shattered somebody else's hopes and dreams, whether that was by choice or wasn't, whether it was done with the best of intentions... or something else, perhaps.
That is life, though, isn't it? Life isn't fair. Life was never meant to be fair, and we'll suffer our hardships and our falls before we rise up and commit the same again, guided by inevitability to go in a circle if you want to look at it that way, or to go up and down if not.
...But people who wreck other people's hopes and dreams, I can't help asking why

Lilly McElroy throws herself at men in the name of Photography. That is quite literally, what she does. And when I stumbled across the article this week I was tickled to read more into her project and the profoundness behind it all. Lilly initially started out on Craigslist, trying to find men to throw herself at but unfortunately she didn't get much response. In the end she went public, approaching men in pubs and clubs to try and recreate that social situation where so many throw themselves at strangers with such ease (and often with not much grace).

In the news this week there has been a spotlight on Karren Brady, a photographer who has won a copyright ruling. The news article itself is interesting but the cautions that it turfs up for the future and current generations of photographers are slightly more concerning. The general feeling that has started to develop is that if you have assistance with setting up a shot, making a scene, posing a model and making up a person for example, those people may well have rights to your work. The 365 Photography Challenge - How to Stick at itBefore I start with this article, a little disclaimer. I just finished the 365 photography challenge - known as a 'photo a day' but I blogged and took more than one photo on most days, so it was that little bit more challenging. So I'm feeling pretty smug right now, that I achieved it. But I am by no means toting myself as an expert. This is just my humble advice on how to keep going when it does nothing but rain, or when you feel like giving up.
Before 2012, some weeks would pass when I wouldn't even pick up the camera, let alone think about shots, or how to compose one. Photography still excited me, but I was lacking inspiration. So on the 2nd of January last year I decided to throw everything up in the air, and let go. That is to say, I stopped being precious about the camera (because you can't when you have to take a photo a day) and I forced myself to take rubbish shots, as well as half decent ones.

This is a great project you have going on here! You're doing so much for the community!

I know many artists I'd love to see featured, but that'd be too many. So I'll only suggest those 3:

. They all have wonderful galleries, and ~Papaya-Style and ~RobertoDS even have over a hundred watchers, but they hardly get any comments or favourites at all. Especially ~RobertoDS.... he's such a great artist and I think he deserves some more attention and feedback.

, I feel like she's a very talented artist, but doesn't seem to get the exposure she deserves, and she probably one of the nicest people I know on DA, She even takes her time to reply to everything
