...basically any Photography sub-gallery without a Community Volunteer attached! :la:

FAQ #61: What is a Daily Deviation?

Tips & Hints

:bulletblue: I like to take into account the Daily Deviations received in the photographer's past. Because of this, I am more inclined to feature those that have not already received a Daily Deviation in 2012, or have less than 3 Daily Deviations.

:bulletblue: I like things to be natural where photography is concerned, so most effects should be simple and minimal, such as increasing the brightness, saturation, contrast, etc. I probably won't accept photographs that have been overly post-processed or adjusted so that it is obvious it has had a fair bit of work done in a digital program.

:bulletblue: Fantastic execution is a good thing to keep in mind. Photographs should be focused, crisp, sharp in detail and really portray the subject matter to the best of abilities. The composition and framing should be fitting so that there isn't a lot of negative space.

:bulletblue: Hence, I like vivid photographs with lots of colour. It doesn't have to be overly bright or overly dark, or even overly colourful, but it should have something that really stands out, that has a huge visual impact and makes you think, "Wow."

:bulletblue: As a result of the above point, originality certainly doesn't hurt! Whether that is originality in execution or concept or even the visual aspect of things. A photograph shouldn't be simple, though. It should have had a bit of thought put into it that separates this particular photograph from the crowd of photographs out there.

:bulletblue: I'm not fond of silhouettes or photographs taken where we can't see much of the main subject matter. Likewise, photographs that are overexposed or underexposed probably won't be featured.

    • 1. Thumb of suggested deviation (Thumbcode can be found on the right side of the deviation page under Thumb: :thumb#######:)
