Commenter Focus - Issue 02

ProjectComment is a Group that provides Guaranteed & Constructive comments for the deviantART community.

In order to support those efforts, we encourage dedicated users to give comments too. For those who are critics, artists, or just helpful in the community, we now offer something in return for all that you do - be it helping the participants of ProjectComment, or the group itself! This article focuses on awesome deviants, who have given fantastic comments, through excerpts of those comments, artwork by the deviants themselves, and an interview and chat event to come!

      What makes it good:
It's always good to have an interesting idea, and it's well explained in the artists comments.

What needs improvement:Anatomy, Composition
      Why:
Anatomy is a tad off, the nose of superman, ect. Composition seems all over the place D: lots of super heroes, a bit overwhelming from my standpoint.
      How I would fix it:
I would of made the superman and the other character as the foreground people, but not so detailed as to focus on your center character. Also instead of doing green and blue as the background, I would of done a spotlight, to highlight how you're characters can't stand up to the talent, or something of that nature, the blue and green feel random, and everything needs purpose.[...]"

  I comment because it allows me to study a piece of artwork and use the principles of art to give my honest opinion of it.  _{I am so selfish}
• What is the best comment you have ever received?
  
  All of the comments that said "Thanks for suggesting my artwork for a DD!" Besides commenting, I love to suggest works to GM's constantly!
• Do you have a specific technique you use when commenting?
  
  I use a format and I follow it like an orthodox Jew would follow the Torah:

  The last section, I add user tutorials found on Deviantart: I have a collection in my favorites that I pick from. Considering I focus in digital and traditional drawing. People usually like visual concepts, or that's my opinion. Positive remarks have come of this, so all is good in the neighborhood!

• What are your feelings on feedback given and received on deviantART?
  
  Well even if you don't have time to comment, just writing one sentence about why you liked a deviation enough to fav it would make DeviantART a happier place.

"Wow this is very pretty! The colors are fantastic, and the mane and tail are wonderful. <3
There are a few little things I noticed that may make this even better.

1) The hooves could be blended into the ground a bit more. Just take the eraser and about 50% hardness and 75% opacity and go over a little bit of the bottom of the hoof. [...]"

"I love the concept here and the themes it plays on. Someone's exterior is often contrary to the person they are inside and I like how you touch on that. Some of your lines feel a bit clichéd - the cool kid with no self-esteem and the misfit who knows he's a good person really, for example. Others are keen observations about school life, like the leader of the band of misfits, rejected by the popular crowd. Overall, I feel like this could go deeper. [...]"
