The Culture and Cost of 'Free'We're well into the internet age, a time where technology gives us access to anything digital right at our fingertips. On one hand, it's great--there has never been a better time to share what you do, and it's easier than ever to make a business out of it. It is the age of entrepreneurs; the old models of big media are failing. We have ignoring advertisements down to an artform and seek out cheaper content online.
Specifically, it's a great era for content creators: the people who make your independent games, your comics, your literature--any creative venture now has the potential to reach millions of people with just a few clicks. It used to be that you had to get published, that you needed a big company to take you under their wing for you to succeed. Of course, any path comes with its risks and benefits, but the point is that there are more options available to you.
But what I'm here to talk about today is the culture that has sprung up because of it.

4 Tips for When You Commission OthersI was just thinking of this for no real reason earlier and thought I'd share because I've come into contact with all four of these things with the many commissions I've drawn. x'D
And who knows, most of this is common sense but perhaps some of you have never thought of things this way before. ;D;
I just know that most people drawing commissions for you will definitely appreciate it or enjoy drawing your commission more if you do these things.
o1. Be CLEAR and DIRECT with what you want drawn.
-Make the artist feel like they are drawing a character instead of just some item. You don't have to type out their life story, but it's always nice to have a small bit of information about the character to reference to so that a bit of personality or inspiration for posing/expression can be represented.
-So, something like "These two characters. She is really shy and modest and he is really apathetic." is a lot more helpful than "I want these two. Thanks!"
