Crane by 3wyl Crane by 3wyl
~ 1000 deviants, 1000 cranes

Although this appears to be quite large, I actually used 5cm square paper, which... well, is quite small. ^^;

Many thanks to =moth-owl for helping me decide which to pick.

I also started my adventure with origami by making paper cranes
you can find some in my gallery...
they sir on most of my belongings in my room :D
I know this legend behind 1000 paper cranes
someday I'll make this much :aww:

you achieved an interesting effect in this photo
the crane looks as if it had been made of cellulose fibre
nice!

I think paper cranes may be the first thing that many people start origami with, if you get what I mean. :D

That's pretty awesome. :O

I have made a 1000 myself, but haven't done anything to it.. like hung them up or anything. :hmm:

Thank you! I think that may be due to the paper.

Such a beautiful photo, I love it so much. <3 The fact that it's in monochrome makes it stand out that much more. Plus the fragile way the paper crane looks... It's an emotional, lovely piece.

If I can ask, what's that under it?
The crane is looking very gentle, I really like how is it lighted :)

Oh this piece has such an incredible emotional atmosphere! I heard of the project, and this is a great way to get across the message

It's really effective how a textured paper was used, and classical black and white style of photo were used :aww: And I personally love square photos too

Well.....I love making origami things but...I'm kinda hopeless when it comes to cranes >< I did notice there is an emoticon project that provides a pixel crane template that I might have a go with, perhaps sometime after this week when I am finally on holidays :aww:

I'm finally here, sorry about that D:
I love the focus and the way the crane looks like it's fluttering above a black hole. It gives the whole thing an incredible feeling of delicacy and transience. I also love how the paper looks kind of see-through – was it really like that or is it just the photographic effect? It must have been hard to fold. :O
I also think the contrast in shapes is really interesting... the angular, fragile crane against the round, deep, timeless hole. (What is the hole, really?) And the black and white. It makes me think of Yin and Yang.
Fantastic.

No worries! :D

Thank you so much! :D

It is somewhat see-through... it's the paper. It's almost like filigree stuff, if you get what I mean.

No! It was like tissue, actually, which isn't too difficult to fold. ^^;

The hole is a flower pot. :D

A small one. xD

Oh, right! Of course, tissue is less difficult to fold, but harder to get to stay in shape, I'd imagine? :?
A flowerpot! I thought it was an ashtray or something :XD:

....fair point. :XD: Well, not with a crane, but I have with an origami lotus/flower thing and another type of bird, and it always seemed to fall apart more easily than paper. xD Then again, it was just normal kitchen roll.

I love the hard contrasts in colour (or black and white, actually!!) and the fading into blur in the background... it's almost haunting. Absolutely stunning photograph. Absolutely stunning. :D :D :D

I know, but not everyone can make a crane this neat,
unless they have practised a lot. I believe you
have pretty good origami skills :)

It looks kinda like you used the fabric softener sheets. xD
It's so...airy.
Plus, with the preview pic, I thought the crane was flapping its wings cause they were blurry.
I like it :D
