Description
I caught this shot in Leake Street, which is a road, of sorts... although I think the proper term is a tunnel. o.O
Anyway, it was "initially created during the 'Cans Festival' organised by Banksy (graffiti artist, political activist and painter) in 2008", so it's pretty recent. If you get a chance to, you should definitely go there. Graffiti is literally on every single wall. The tunnel is covered with it and I bet the ceilings would as well if they weren't so high up.
I've got loads of photos, but I consider myself lucky with this shot because this guy was in the process of spray painting something, and he was the only one there when I went. A bunch of people were watching him as well, but I don't think he was too bothered by it...
I couldn't decide whether I should post the first or second one, and I dislike posting up the same sort of thing twice, so I decided to string it up in a design similar to My Wings II. I'm not sure if it works well... I flipped it over from side to side and top to bottom, but should I have just flipped it from side to side and not top to bottom? I thought the latter was a bit boring, but maybe it's just me that likes a brain warp.
I think there's a lot of ... stereotype with graffiti and graffiti artists. People have usually associated graffiti with vandalism, anti-social behaviour and so on. I think it's an intriguing art form, personally... different for sure, and fantastic when done 'properly', as you can probably see through Banksy's work.
I called this "Artist's Plight" because... well, this is art in its truest form, isn't it? I find it quite fascinating to see an artist at work as well, so...
Thank you for reading, if you have. Once again, my Artist's Comments takes a page long. >.>
